Personalized Service at Convenience Car Care

Timmy Tyrell, Owner of Convenience Car Care

I first became involved with the repair of vehicles with my father at the age of four. I followed my dad everywhere he went. He was my idol and best friend and is still to this day. I handed him tools in our home garage as he worked on cars. As I grew I would go to the different shops with my dad and that is how I landed my first job at a shop in Fairfax, VA called Autothority. I worked for Al Collins, the owner, and trained under Charlie Murphy and Jeff Schmanski. Little did I realize at the time, but I had surrounded myself with the best in the business. I learned so much. I have always enjoyed fixing something for someone, helping someone, and using my hands.

I started Convenience Car Care in my parent's garage in Fairfax Station, VA while attending NOVA. I came up with the name Convenience Car Care because everyone came to mom & dad's house and dropped off their cars. Most of them stayed and had dinner with us. The day my mom could not get into her driveway, because it was filled with customer's cars, was the day I had to find another place. I truly did not anticipate all the costs involved or the fact that landlords did not want to rent to automotive businesses, let alone an 18 year old with no credit. Enter Cecil Sills. Mr. Sills owned numerous warehouses in the Manassas area and offered to rent me a 5,000 sq.ft. warehouse off Euclid Court on a virtual handshake. Coming from a small two car family garage to this huge warehouse was frightening. It made me more determined to succeed. I signed my first lease on the hood of Cecil's Ford station wagon. May Cecil Sills rest in peace. I am forever grateful to him.

As our service business increased, I realized we needed a tow truck to better assist our customers. We bought our first tow truck and took a picture of my dad and me in front of it, so proud. Upon looking at the photo closely, we realized that our company name was misspelled! Live and learn. We added to our fleet having over 11 tow trucks and five tractor trailers. Our tractor trailers hauled cars up and down the East Coast and for other car dealers. I then realized that what my passion always was, and still is today, is servicing vehicles. We eventually downsized the towing company and transport business, and focused solely on auto repair and used car sales.

As time passed we outgrew the warehouse space and in 2003, acquired a small lot that was commercially zoned property. My vision of the type of building Convenience needed became a reality in July 2006, when we moved into our new state-of-the-art facility at 9145 Centreville Road.

In October 2010, Convenience partnered with Intersport Performance, our sister store, which is located at 1524 Spring Hill Drive, McLean, VA. I am once again working side-by-side with Charlie Murphy, from my first job at Autothority, and Omar Hilmi.

Convenience has been in business for 19 years and counting. I am willing to do almost anything for a customer. Everyone will always get their car fixed, but they must be selective about who does the fixing. I strive to provide a level of service that is "Quality Service - with a Personal Touch," our company slogan.

Truth be told, my customers become friends. Once they become part of Convenience's family, they will always be my family. Our family will always be there to help. To customers children going off to college and needing assistance away from home, someone needing a shed moved off their property, broken down in another State and helping find a shop to help, removing spilled gas from the car trying to gas up the lawnmower, to welding a lawn ornament (or kitchen chair) that is broken, whatever it takes to help the family. I am your neighborhood mechanic and service center.

I thank you for your business,
Timmy Tyrrell
