Jaguar XK/XKR Touchscreen Problems

Jaguar has been making the XK series (including the XKR) of grand tourer since 1996, and has produced both a two-door coupe as well as a cabriolet version. The second generation of this popular luxury auto was begun with the model year 2007 and produced up until the present time. Jaguar owners typically love their cars, which isn't to say they don't require periodic maintenance and repair.

One such issue that may require the expertise of a mechanic concerns the touchscreen function. Upon starting the car, some XK/XKR owners have reported that the touchscreen fails to turn on. This problem would occur during the duration of the owners time in the car, but upon starting the car at a later time, the problem would stop only to reoccur at some random time in the future. One specific thing about this problem that some owners have noticed is that it does not seem to occur during the summer months.

Sometimes there are large gaps between these occurrences as well, which also makes it difficult to pinpoint what is causing the problem. It is also possible that this may have something to do with low batty voltage or battery power being diverted to other areas.

If this is something you can live with then that's up to you. Many drivers find this issue to be annoying as it prevents them from enjoying the full features of their Jaguars. If you are experiencing a problem with the touchscreen component of your Jaguar, XK or XKR, you should have the vehicle brought in to a trained British import technician. They will be able to give you a complete evaluation as well as an estimate for repair. This will oftentimes be the less expensive option than taking it to a dealership.

Search for a local, independent Jaguar repair shop with Jaguar mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the expense.
